I haven’t done a “goals post” in eons. But I need a challenge. And the only way to really do that is to write it down and hold yourself accountable. Goals help us to realize things that maybe we have been thinking about, but just can’t quite put our finger on. Know what I mean?
My Goals For October:
Make 2 New Recipes: Normally, I would want to try 4 new recipes, one for each week of the month. But, I know that new ingredients can sometimes be pricey, and I don’t want to spend too much money, especially since I don’t know what it is yet that I am going to make. But I miss trying out new recipes, and it seems like forever since I posted a recipe on my blog. I kinda miss that. π
Purchase a Winter Jacket For My Daughter: It gets cold here in Oregon, yo…for reals. And her jacket that she had previously is too small and not nearly warm enough.
Take My Multi-Vitamin Every Day: Seriously, I fell off the wagon on this big time! And I don’t eat as well as I should, so this kinds helps balance my lack of serious vegetable eating.
Sock Away Some Money into our Emergency Fund: Don’t know how, don’t have a plan formalized yet, but I’m going do it.
Write For Me: I need to write, separately from the blog. I want to publish a book one day, but that is not going to happen if I have an empty notebook. So I need to push myself and just…write.
So those are my goals for October. Do you guys set goals? Does it help to have them written down?
Great goals, and I would love to read your book one day! I just had to buy all my vitamins because they all run out at the same time. Damn not cheap! But they are always BOGO so at least it lasts awhile. I have some goals for Oct that I will share Friday! I want to cook some more crockpot stuff since it’s “cooling down” here.
Yeah, vitamins are so expensive! I have my multi-vitamin but I’m out of fish oil *grumble, grumble*
Thanks, T! It makes me happy that you would want to read my book π You are the best!
Hey, NaNoWriMo is coming up! Spend October thinking of ideas and doing some short writings. Then sign up for NaNoWriMo and spend November completely focused on non-blog writing! It’s a great experience!
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely check that out π
Great goals, Mackenzie! I bet it does get cooler in Portland than it does here. π We need to go through the girls’ closets and see what fits and what doesn’t for the winter. Kids grow so fast! And I would love to read your future book some day! Get writing, my friend.
Yes, it has already dipped into the mid 40’s at night and it’s still early fall! But I am loving the cooler weather π
Aww, thanks Shannon for the encouragement! I really and truly appreciate all your support π
I was just plotting my recipes for ELP this afternoon and for the upcoming holiday season. I’ve got a couple Fall dishes that – fingers crossed – will be blog worthy. And I’m have way too much fun choosing Thanksgiving and holiday treat recipes to feature. And oh yeah, I’m supposed to be getting fit. LOL! I need to get back to talking a multi-vitamin and St. John’s Wort again. And I’ve been struggling with writing too. I have lots of ideas but don’t do anything with them. So let’s motivate each other write, okay? Because I know whatever you write will be amazing!!
Oh my gosh, I can’t wait to see what dishes you make for EatLaughPurr! I sooo look forward to what you make because it always looks and sounds delicious!! And the holiday season always has yummy things to think about making π
Yes, let’s totally motivate each other Tanya!!! We can do this!! π
I always enjoy reading yearly or monthly goals from various bloggers in the FI community. I think that by having a set of goals printed each month you can really see how effective you are in achieving or failing each one.
Stash cash for that emergency fund. I’m too paranoid and have about a year’s worth of expenses socked away. Some say it’s too much but these days when you hear about people looking for work for many, many months or even years it makes me think about my situation and, quite honestly, helps me sleep better at night. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I like reading other personal finance people’s goals, because sometimes there is something you can learn from their goals or something may inspire you to take on the same goal π
I like this list: short and sweet. Love the idea about trying new recipes each month: I think I may start with Tanya’s banana bread recipe she just posted. Our kiddos need new winter jackets too: it’s cold here already!! 43 degrees right now. Burrrr!! Have a great weekend, my friend!
Thanks Laurie! Yeah, super long goal lists are not my thing; might as well throw in the towel at that point π Wow, 43 degrees already? Yup, time to get new coats π
I get out of the habit taking multi-vitamins too. Funnily enough, I only want to take them when I’m not feeling well, and when thing are okay, I forget.
If you want to just write there’s a site you can do that on. It’s called 750words.com. I did it for a bit.
Me too! I’ve only been taking them when I haven’t felt well. Ugh, this may be a harder task than I thought π
Thanks, I’ll have to check that site out!
I definitely have to write goals down. If they stay in my head, they never are achieved and most times, forgotten. I also make it a point to make monthly goals or break down my annual goals into monthly ones because that keeps me motivated to see them through to the end.
Yup, writing down goals seems to be the only way of achieving them! π Otherwise, we do forget!
