Here are my goals for the month of November:
(*) Reign it in: The grocery bill needs to be reigned in. Overhauled, in a sense. We buy healthy foods; it’s not like we are stocking up on Fritos and Hungry Man frozen entrees for some kind of just around the corner junk food catastrophe. But our bill is crazy. Many items we purchase there aren’t coupons for, so it’s not like I can play the coupon game again. Not that I’d want to. *shudder*
So, I am going to keep an eye on what we are spending and see where I can make some cuts and figure out more dishes where I can get two meals out of one. We’ll see how it goes.
(*) Sell some stuff: We have items that we can sell on Craigslist and Ebay. Not only will this free up some space, we definitely could use the cash.
(*) Step it up: I fell off the exercise bandwagon over the summer, somewhere around the time the first mind-numbing heat wave hit our area. Since then, even though it obviously is no longer summer, my enthusiasm to work out has not returned. So I am lugging out the old pedometer and gettin’ to steppin’. This little device, more than anything, forces me to walk more. More walking, more steps, more activity. Something is better than nothing.
(*) Donate books: I have some books that I truly am never going to read again. What better place to give them to than the library?
What are your goals for November?
We need to reign in our food spending as well! It’s been getting out of control.
It really is astounding how expensive the grocery store is! And we eat healthy! Darn grocery bill 🙂
My main, and pretty much only, goal for November is to finish NaNoWriMo. I’ve kind of let anything else I want to do fall by the wayside so I can accomplish that.
Oh, and I want to finally bring the bag of clothes to Goodwill. I’m tired of looking at it.
Good for you that you are doing NaNoWriMo! That’s awesome 🙂 Does it have to be on your blog, or can you just write everyday but not publish it?
Oh I hear you with the grocery bill! You’d think I was somehow a gourmet cook with what my bill normally is, but I’m not. I guess some items I buy (like stevia) are just stupidly expensive!
I know, right? I’m trying to cut down on some of the organic stuff we buy, but some things need to be organic like my daughter’s milk. Sigh…
Those are some good things to strive for. I like the donating books thing. I hope it goes well.
Thank you. I am getting all the books together and will soon be on my way to donate them.
Great goals for November! We have really slimmed down our grocery bill in the last few years too, even as our family has grown! I blogged recently about my biggest helpers in saving money on groceries – maybe some of those tips could help you too! http://www.practicingprudence.blogspot.com/2012/09/5-tips-for-better-grocery-budget.html
Thanks Kayla! I will check out your tips 🙂
