Vacation. The word just screams freedom. Freedom to lounge about. Freedom to eat whatever, whenever. Freedom to just be.
My family and I are going on a mini-vacation next week (much-needed), and I am excited to get away. But what is even more exciting to me, is the fact that none of this vacation is being paid for with a credit card.
Maybe I should repeat that: This vacation is not being paid for with any sort of credit card whatsoever.
Did you hear that? I could’ve sworn I heard angels singing.
This is a first for us. Vacations taken in the past were paid for with borrowed money. Fluctuating interest. The bane of our existence: credit cards.
We always thought, oh we’ll just put it on the card and pay for it later. Yeah, you’ll pay for it later. And keep on payin’. Soon, the vacation is forgotten and you’re still making minimum payments.
But this time is different. This time, we were smart. This time, we were grown-ups. We planned out the trip in advance. We made sure we had enough money. We saved. And now we can truly enjoy our time away without any little APR dangling from our rearview mirror. We can go and have fun and not feel guilty as if we are spending money we don’t have.
Sure, we are still on our path to financial simplicity, but we need a getaway. So we are going on vacation. A vacation not marred by credit, but funded by wisdom.
Hope you have a great time 🙂
Thank you! I’m excited. it’s been 4 years since our last vacation!
Exciting! I think the vacation will feel that much better because you’d have paid for it without credit cards. Enjoy!
Yes, I am glad that I am not stressing about food or hotel costs and what it will really cost us in the end. Thanks Daisy!
Go you!! I’m glad the memories of vacation will last longer than the bills from vacation. 🙂 Here’s to hoping your wisdom rubs off on me!
Yeah, credit card bills are a bummer when you come back from vacation. I am very proud of us that we were able to do this without using credit 🙂
So awesome! We will be going on a vacation/family reunion next Summer and it’s been way too long. It will be 3 years next Summer, which as you know is way too long to go without a break!
I’m really happy that we went this route of using cash for our vacation. Having fun and no worries!
Wow, your vacation next Summer sounds awesome! Yes, I whole-heartedly agree with you; 3 years is too long to go without vacation 🙂 I totally get it.
That’s a great feeling! Hope you have a wonderful time! Where are you going?
We went to Santa Barbara. It was beautiful 🙂
Thats great! And now your vacation will be 10x more enjoyable because you know you won’t owe for it later.
We had a great time and I’m glad we didn’t have to use any credit. It was a good vacation 🙂
