So, I am beyond annoyed. We have had to fork out money to replace three appliances. Money that was not budgeted for small appliance replacements. We had no such fund set in place. But in less than three months, we have shelled out some dough for these little contraptions and I am a bit miffed.
Let’s start with the microwave. This one has not fueled my anger as have its other two companions. Our apartment, which we moved into in January, did not come with a microwave. Could we have gone without one? That would be a negative. Being a mom to a small toddler means lots of coffee gone cold in its mug and food cooled to room temperature by the time it’s your turn to eat. Just these two things alone necessitate a microwave. Luckily we purchased it for a good price. I thought that would be the end of our appliance acquisition.
Ah fate, you are a jokester! Last month our toaster oven died. No notice, no warning. You turned it on… and zilch. It abandoned us and didn’t even say goodbye. So off to Target we went. Good thing we found one on sale. We use our toaster oven every day, so this purchase was also a need. But were we done there?
Of course not! Because last week, our coffeemaker bit the dust. In a big way. This was a HUGE problem. This mom can only become a functioning part of the human race, on coffee. Coffee and I are BFF’s, never to part. If you don’t believe me, ask my husband. We have some sort of crazy caffeinated triangle going on over here, and if you still don’t believe me… spend the day with me and my Hubby when we haven’t had any caffeine. You’re in for a real treat…
So our coffeemaker broke and before either of us could picture the nightmare of a household without coffee, my husband jumped in his car and went to the store to purchase a new coffeemaker. Did I mention this was at 7:30 p.m.? On a week night?
Hubby came back with a basic coffeemaker. It can’t contact NASA or anything but it gets the job done and that’s all I care about.
Well there it is folks. Three appliances in three months… hence my annoyance. I hope this is the end of the road concerning appliance purchasing but you never know. Good thing I don’t own an electric wine opener… because if that broke…
I feel for you on the toaster and microwave. My house could not live without those. However, the coffee maker? I’m not even sure I know where ours is. Neither one of us drinks coffee and we have the cheapest model available for when we have company. And it’s a good thing those guests know how to make coffee, too, because that is one skill I definitely don’t have.
I am in awe of those who don’t drink coffee…. must be a Jedi mind trick or something! 🙂
Stop telling scary stories about a cruel world without coffee, Mackenzie! The world without hot food or fresh coffee, I already live in. Hi neighbor! haha

Ha! I knew you would understand my predicament 🙂 Coffee makes everything better!
Bad things happen in threes! That’s terrible. I’m hoping for our coffee maker to break, because I can’t justify buying a new one until it does and it’s terrible.
There’s nothing worse than having a crappy coffeemaker, I agree! 🙂
Oh! I feel so sorry for you. I can relate myself to what happened with you. The only difference is that in my case it was my bike.
I feel your pain. My favorite piece of electric equipment in my apartment is actually our cross-shredder. I would be pretty sad if it quit on us.
I’m with you on that one! We would be in a dire situation if our shredder broke also.
