So amongst my many goals for 2013, are some goals to be more fit. I feel that I am pretty healthy already, but there’s always room for improvement. Sure, I eat fruits and veggies, but I could be eating more. I also could do things like eat more quinoa, drink more water, and stop using so much darn creamer in my coffee.
But weighing less than I currently do, is a very big goal of mine. I want to get back to my pre-baby weight and I am not there yet. But I’ve started a few things already to help get me there…
Since the flu had knocked me down the first part of the year, I’m a bit behind in the exercise department and haven’t got in as much exercise as I would have liked to for the month of January. However, I’ve started to do some yoga and use my stepper while my daughter is napping. Something is always better than nothing, and I am glad that I am finally feeling well enough to start exercising. I’m going to keep going!
I got a free subscription to Fitness magazine! I cashed in my Huggies rewards points for all the diapers/wipes I’ve bought and I am getting a year’s subscription. Woo hoo! I love this magazine, I really do. They have great exercise tips and they are always exercises that I can do in the comfort of my living room. And this magazine has awesome recipes, which although they are super healthy, manage to look absolutely mouth-watering at the same time!
I cut out sweets. Y’all know how much I love cookies. I loooove them and they are my weakness. Now if I want a cookie, I have to leave the house and purchase a cookie. I’m not baking them, as much as I would love to, because I am unable to resist them.
Especially when I am cranky π
Do you guys have fitness goals for the year? How are you doing so far?
I love getting those kinds of magazines, even if it’s only for the motivation. I had a cold kind of kick my butt in Jan, but I’ve still been active. I’d like to incorporate even more different kinds of fruits and veggies in my diet. I seem to stick with a basic few, and it gets boring. But it’s expensive, and my grocery budget has always been problematic, so it’s kind of tricky.
I know, right? I would totally love to try new fruits and veggies but if it’s not in season, then it’s super expensive! Darn grocery budget!
I’ve been trying out yoga to gain more flexibility, but I first need to learn patience since the sessions seem to drag. Good luck with the cookie resistance goal, not sure if I could do that! haha
Totally understand about yoga…I’m just getting back into it so I am little lacking in the flexibilty department!
And we will see if cookies get the best of me! So far for the month, I haven’t had a single one π
I need to go yoga in the worst way. I’m only slightly more flexible than a steel bar. i do some sort of exercise every day, but I have a triathlon coming up in July, maybe 2, so I’m starting to swim once a week, and will start with my road bike when it’s not freezing. I usually train pretty hard from about now until July then slack off for the end of the year. I should do it year round, but it is really easy to slow down when the event is over.
Wow, a triathlon π That’s so awesome, good for you! Is this your first one, or have you done them before?
I have a goal to swim more! I live right on the beach, come on, it can’t be that difficult! It’s been raining a lot, and there are workers all around the house, which is another excuse not to go. I am happy with my shape but could tone some more. Good luck with going back to pre-baby weight!
Swimmimg is great exercise! That’s one of the great perks you have of living by the beach π
Thanks, I hope to get back to my pre-baby weight sooner rather than later!
My wife has a similar goal of getting back down to her pre-baby weight. I think so long as you stick to the right diet and do a bit of exercise it will all happen in good time.
It’s hard to do, but it can be done! I just need lots of willpower π
I’m still trying to lose my last few pounds of baby weight and am getting in better shape. It has been an ongoing process.
Isn’t it though? I have a bad habit of finishing whatever is left on my daughter’s plate when she is done eating. That can’t be good for my waistline!
We’ve been up and down with our goals thus far. We want to make it to the gym 4 times/week but I’d say we’ve been averaging 2 at best. It’s been tough for us to consistently go to bed early so we can get up at 4:30 AM. Hopefully we’ll get our butts in line though!
Hey, 2 times a week to the gym is better than nothing! Some progress is still progress!
I decided 131 days ago that I’d run every single day. Even with the flu I made it happen. It has to be at least a mile to count (and no treadmill….must be outside), so I’ve gone at least 1.25 miles to make sure (but usually more). It’s been awesome so far.
Good for you! What a great goal π Have you done marathons before?
Epic fail on my fitness/eating healthy to lose weight this month. I really need to start jogging again. Not only do I feel better, I also sleep a lot better, which I really like.
Yes, I find I sleep better on the days that I exercise too! Which is good when you suffer from insomnia at times *raises hand*
My fitness goal is to go to yoga each week. This was my goal last year too, haha. This year it is easier because my workplace offers free yoga classes. I also want to run 2-3km once a week once the weather picks up a bit.
Wow, your job offers free yoga classes? That’s so cool!
Yoga is the best honestly π I wish I was a runner…maybe someday!
