I had put off posting this at the end of December because I really wanted to make sure that I had goals that were truly purposeful. I didn’t want to throw up random things to accomplish that made no sense at where I am at this point in my life. I also didn’t want every single goal to revolve around money; I wanted to allow for personal growth as well.
I have also decided that for the time being, I am going to shelve my monthly goals which are separate tasks that I try to accomplish. It’s just too much and I really want to focus on my 365 day goals and put my full effort into those. I get too sidetracked with the monthly goals and completely forget about what I’m supposed to be working on the rest of the time.
So without further adeiu’…my goals for 2013:
PERSONAL
- Find an exercise regimen that works for me. I really like yoga and want to get back into it, but I am open to any sort of work-out that I can make happen.
- Meditate more. I get to stressin’ yo…
- Go down one dress size. Instead of focusing on a number on the scale, I am going to focus on how my clothes fit. I’m a girl with curves, but I would like to get back to the dress size I was before I had a baby.
- Go to sleep earlier. Must make this happen.
- Need “date night” to occur much more often than it currently does…which is basically zilch. Those with kids know what I am talking about! I want to try for once-a-month.
FINANCIAL
- Budget, budget, budget. Tis a new year complete with taxes, car registrations, and gosh darn it, our medical insurance changed and went up as well. Gotta get everything in order.
- Transfer my high interest credit card to a low-interest or 0% credit card, so that more of my payment goes towards the balance.
- Start a savings account for my daughter.
- Continue to build up our emergency fund. It took a hit at the end of the year, and we need to build it back up.
- Charitable giving: this is important to me and I need to do more.
I thought a lot about what I wanted to accomplish this year and I feel that these goals are within my reach and I can get them done. I want to get a better grip on my finances but not neglect myself in the process. Sometimes we forget about taking care of ourselves, but health needs to be a priority too.
I do also have blog goals that I want to accomplish, but it’s kind of a jumble in my head right now. Once I get it on paper, and figure out what I want to do, I’ll do a separate post on that at another time.
I’m getting the ball rollin’! Here’s to a successful 2013!
You’re breaking it down even further than me! But I agree it’s what you can do each day that makes a difference. I think sometimes we put off doing things for bigger, yearly goals. Every day you can do something to move yourself towards the person you want to be. Good luck!
Thanks Tonya! Good luck with your goals too 🙂
Great looking goals Mackenzie! We’re with you in getting to sleep earlier. Wasting time has been an issue for us and a lot of it begins and ends when we get to bed. If we get to bed too late it throws off the next day on one level or another. We need to get better about our date nights as well, those little ones can really throw a wrench into them.
Isn’t it funny how hard is to get a good night’s sleep? Ah, such is life 🙂 Good luck with your date nights as wel!
Meditate more is absolutely something I should add to my list. I also like it that you have charity on your list. This year I’m trying to save more and give more. Good luck with your goals in 2013 and Happy New Year!
It’s finding time to meditate that is the problem! But I am going to make an effort.
Giving back is important and I feel like I didn’t do enough of that last year.
Happy New Year to you!
Love the goals. Cheryl and I take a walk around the block (about a mile) every night. Man, that helps us get a little “chill” time…..
Hey, a walk around the block is a good idea! I may have to incorporate that 🙂

I really need to get on an exercise routine too. I just need more hours in the day!
I hear ya! I’m realy going to make an effort; weight seems to be harder to lose as I get older.
These are all great goals–good luck in 2013!
Thank you 🙂
Good luck with your goals Mackenzie! I hope you can qualify for that 0% deal, paying interest must be slowing you down big time.
Thanks Pauline! I hope I can get 0% as well.
Ahh, sleep. A noble goal if there ever were one. Luckily it’ll be helped by the yoga and meditation, so you’ve got a set of goals that should work very well together. Good luck!
Thanks! Sleep is an elusive one…I too am hoping the yoga and mediation help!

We have similar financial goals – best wishes on achieving yours! I was thinking about the balance transfer for my cc debt, too, but the transfer fees were steep all on their own, so I just have to pay it down the old school way.
I am starting to look into the balance transfer, but if the fees are outrageous then I’m just going to keep the card and pay it down the longer way.
Good luck on your goals 🙂
